Sept. 13th, a technical consulting team led by Prof. Martin Wagner from IWAR Institute came to Jieyang and held talks with the Metal Enterprises Union of Jieyang (MEUJ) for co-constructing sewage treatment system. Deep discussions were made on feasibility study report of sewage treatment system of Sino-German Metal Eco-City, construction site of SEMIZENTRAL supply and treatment center and approaches to water recycling. KOCKS Consult GmbH, TU Darmstadt, Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University and College of Environmental Science and Engineering are the main participants in the technical consulting project, providing advanced sewage treatment technology for Jieyang and fully meeting the needs of local industrial development.

Sept. 14th, the MEUJ signed a cooperation agreement on feasibility study report of SEMIZENTRAL supply and treatment center with IWAR Institute of TU Darmstadt after three  rounds of talks. According to the agreement, the project team will provide program advisory service, survey data and eventually a feasibility study report of technology and economy. This is another new progress of the construction of Sino-German Metal Eco-City since the signing of cooperative MOU in July. Both sides will exchange and cooperate with each other concerning garbage disposal, sewage treatment and waste recycling.

Sewage treatment and reuse, renewable energy development and utilization, solid waste recycling are three core technologies of SEMIZENTRAL. In terms of sewage treatment and reuse, Professionals from TU Darmstadt and College of Environmental Science and Engineering in Tongji University conducted a joint research, and came to a conclusion that sewage can be classified as black water like toilet flushing water and grey water like washing water. Setting up a recycled-wastewater system to collect black water and grey water separately enables grey water to be reused as toilet flushing water for all sanitary buildings in Sino-German Metal Eco-City. As for renewable energy development and utilization, the consulting team holds that domestic sludge produced by sewage plants could be useful through anaerobic treatment. That is to say, domestic sludge mixed with organic waste in parks can produce methane after anaerobic fermentation, which not only reclaims the renewable energy but also reduces the solid waste in parks. Concerning solid waste recycling, sludge left by sewage treatment and biogas fermentative residue are expected to be composted for fertilizing urban greening soil and reduce the traditional landfilling load.
