On September 21st 2013, just after the secretary of Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPC Hu Chunhua finished his visit in Germany, Switzerland and Italy, the economy and trade delegation of Jieyang, led by Chen Dong, the Mayor of Jieyang, set out their second visit to Germany. The delegation was mainly composed of 28 entrepreneurs of Jieyang Metal Enterprises Union and they were hoping to accelerate the development and strengthen the cooperation when working with the German enterprises, business associations and colleges for a win-win outcome.

 

    During the last November and this April, the entrepreneurs of Jieyang have organized two important visits in order to investigate the business mode in Germany. Looking back to the first investigation, holding on to the ideology of ‘learn from each other for a win-win future’, the delegation was benefited a lot in how to upgrade our metal industry after having looked deep into the world-class metal processing and environmental protection technology and Vocational Education System in Germany. And this also marked the essential step in the Go Out journey.

 

    After 8 months’ endeavor, Jieyang has specified the method and the goal of development, thus deciding on the cooperation partner and channel and more important, carrying out some practical actions and measures. Specially, the entrepreneurs of the Jieyang Metal Enterprises Union deserve more praise for their sincerity in learning, tolerant mentality, and advanced conception, which have gain the recognition and support in Germany. Rudolf Scharping, former German Defense Minister and former president of Germany’s Social Democratic Party was appointed as the consultant of Jieyang. He has paid a visit in Jieyang for five times in just six months, together with parties of German investors. Philipp Missfelder, the member of the presidium of Christian Democratic Union and president of the German Youth League, had two meetings with Mayor Chen Dong. In addition, Mr. Missfelder attended the commencement ceremony of the China-Germany Metal Industry Innovation Base. Besides German Family Business Foundation, German Trade Union, Technical University Darmstadt and Carl Zeiss AG, a large amount of enterprises and institutions come to Jieyang to find a chance in the Zhong- De Metal Eco-City project, for this project, which is under construction, is the pioneer in the tide of China-Germany’s cooperation in the new era.

These visits aimed to promote the development of Jieyang and ZhongDe Metal Eco-City to Germany and the whole Europe and seek more cooperation partners. We have made several accomplishments as follows: making a contract with the IWAR laboratory of Technical University Darmstadt about the municipal and industrial wastewater treatment system in metal eco-city; signing a contract with AS&P, an architectural design company, about the planning and designing of the park; signing up with Darmstadt University of Applied Technology to establish China-Germany vocational university; building positive relationships with German Trade Union and other associations to learn about the operation in the chamber of commerce; visiting Adlershof science and technology industrial park and introducing the best operation team of the park in Europe; signing with some German expert organization, aiming to introduce German experts and engineers to Jieyang enterprises; planning to negotiate with five or more German corporations about entering Zhong-De Metal Eco-City.
